Simpson fire operations was cancelled.


Logan County- As of 8:00AM fire commands and fire chiefs have terminated operations and returning back to normal operations.


March 31,2023- At 2:50PM Friday afternoon, large grass fire started from reports of a trailer home fire near Bryant and Simpson. Fire began to spread east very quick due to the strong wind and with the weather conditions being very dry that day. Winds sustained 40 MPH with a wind gust of 60 MPH plus. From there interstate 35 was shut down between Seward and Waterloo Road due to the fire spreading across the interstate. The interstate was shut down for several hours. The interstate became back open at 7:43PM after fire crews got a good handle of the fire.


Guthrie Fire Chief, Eric Harlow said "the whole world seemed to be on fire" that day.


Harlow said that it can take 2-3 days for fire crews to put all the flames due to the number of buildings and rekindling.


Many fire task force across the state joined logan county fire departments to extinguish the fire.


OG&E reported roughly 3000 customers without power and other remained without internet.


Last reports show that 75 structures were lost, nearly 200 outbuildings, and roughly 3400 acres burned.


Fire department and task forces that helped extinguish were: Sooner Fire, Oak Cliff Fire, Guthrie Fire, Edmond Fire, Meridian Fire, Coyle Fire, Langston Fire, Cashion Fire, Lincoln County Task Force, Wagoner County Task Force, Payne County Task Force and Muskogee County EMS Task Force and many more.
